Zen Teachings

A Zen Teacher saw five of his students return from the market, riding their bicycles. When they had dismounted, the teacher asked the students, “Why are you riding your bicycles?”

The first student replied, “The bicycle is carrying this sack of potatoes. I am glad that I do not have to carry them on my back!” The teacher praised the student, saying, “You are a smart boy. When you grow old, you will not walk hunched over, as I do.”

Get Your Kids in Too

Attention parents with children age 10+. I’m thinking of organizing a junior road bike club/race team for 2011.

At this point I’m trying to get a feel for the appetite for a junior bike club. If you have a son or daughter who is interested in joining an organized club for cycling and possibly racing, let me know.

With enough interest, I’ll work to organize a meeting/info session. Thanks – Greg

Cadillac Challenge Success

For those of you that might have gone through this section at a dizzying speed…

What a great day to be out on the bike. It was great to see so many friends out on the road and meet a few new people as well. Already looking forward to next year, the 20th edition of the Cadillac Challenge!!

Long Ride on Sunday

Some of us will be doing a ride to Unity and back via Freedom and Palermo/Level Hill/Rt.3 this Sunday. This is the route I posted last week, about 71 miles.

We’re going to leave at 7 AM, and there are, as always, shorter routes back. Looks like the century isn’t happening Saturday- if anyone has any thoughts re:rescheduling this, lets toss some ideas around.

We should at the very least have some form of club get together, whether we do a ride or not. Discuss… Ken
